McNaughton is a great place to teach and learn! Our teachers are committed to a high quality learning experience. We strive to be creative and innovative in our instruction to engage students in their learning through a variety of learning experiences. Our school community has a long standing tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts. As a district, we are committed to our mission “Instilling Confidence, Building Futures” – we aim to prepare students to be productive citizens and life-long learners in an ever changing world. We are committed to providing quality education to our students and believe that there are numerous opportunities, both in the classroom and through extracurricular activities, for our students to gain the skills that will allow them to be successful in their lives after high school.
McNaughton High School is a Grades 6 to 12 school located on Treaty 2 land and home to Treaty 4 people in the town of Moosomin, Saskatchewan. Moosomin is a town full of history, including deep roots in agriculture, mining, and natural resources. It is a prairie town on the rise. Located near the Nutrien Potash Mine and surrounded by rich farmland, the town has seen significant growth in industry and services. Recent additions and things to come to the town of Moosomin include a hospital build, water treatment center, and airport project. McNaughton High School is proud of to be a part of this thriving community.
MHS provides education to over 350 students and employs approximately 40 staff. MHS is the third largest high school in the Southeast Cornerstone Public School Division (SECPSD). The school offers many extracurricular activities such as drama, yearbook, and SRC. Sports teams such as golf, volleyball, basketball, track & field and badminton are also active in the school. Presently students from Wapella School transfer to MHS in Grade 8 and many students from surrounding communities attend MHS for its vast curricular and vibrant extra-curricular programming.
MHS offers a variety of elective courses on rotation ranging from the fine arts, technology-focused, business, and trades such as:
-Agriculture, Energy & Mines, Outdoor Education, Environmental Science
-Home Economics, Cosmetology, Commercial Cooking (provides a daily free breakfast program and an affordable hot lunch program daily prepared by students)
-Industrial Arts, Mechanics, Machining, Metal Work, etc.
-Communication Media (film & video), Robotics, Computer Science
-Financial Literacy, Accounting, Law, Forensic Science
-Work Experience, Apprenticeship, Special Project Credits
-Fine Arts Programming, and so much more!
